Puerto Asis, Putumayo. December 24, 2020 – La nueva Amerisur categorically rejects unfounded accusations made by the Inter-Ecclesiastical Commission for Justice and Peace that the Company has connections with illegal organizations regarding the development of its exploration project in block PUT-8.
The seismic acquisition program carried out by La nueva Amerisur in PUT-8 is in fulfillment of commitments to the Colombian State and is developed in full compliance with the law and with full respect for human rights. Given the public order situation in the area, the Company has carried out due diligence actions to effectively protect its employees, contractors and neighboring communities.
The seismic project has been widely discussed with neighboring communities, and no objections have been raised. Since the beginning of the year, the Company has held 59 meetings with municipal authorities and neighboring communities, in which 1,679 people took part, to provide information on the program and listen to and resolve the concerns that arose.
To make information more transparent, La nueva Amerisur created a Monitoring Committee that reviews the project’s progress monthly on technical, operational, environmental, social and labor matters. Authorities, communities and Company staff are represented on the Committee.
To ensure the project benefits its neighbors, La nueva Amerisur has created more than 370 job opportunities for Putumayo workers in the project.
Acting responsibly and contributing to the construction of peace, sustainable development and the wellbeing of neighboring communities, La nueva Amerisur reaffirms its commitment to respect the highest social and human rights standards.
